not so much.

i'm not a fashionista. but i do appreciate a few trends and i know which clothes/shoes/accessories i like. for instance, the more male-patterned look for women (the spin off of "i wear my boyfriend's buttoned down shirt as a dress") with clothing that's tailored and streamlined and a bit boyish is looking quite good to me.

what i do not appreciate are the flood of gladiator-styled sandals. granted some are cute. but others are hideous. i knew this was coming, but i think in new york (where people all seem to have problems with restraining themselves during the summer - with their practically non-existent pieces of clothing) they take it all a bit too far, with their endless throng of straps confining their calves up to their knees or the "faux-boot" sandal, with its excessive piece of material that gives the illusion not of a boot but that you have a big wad of tissue stuck in your shoe to cover up your hideous scar from that intense spider bite. to top it all off, there's an asbolute obsession with the metallic.

these are ok:

these make me want to slap people in the face:

this last one's actually not that bad (it is dolce & gabbana) - but i did see one with bright buckles on it and another with this hideous 2 inch-patch of braided cream and brown leather running down the front. blegh.
