i'm short. i know.

and i must admit that i revel in meeting people shorter than me.

i read this article on discovery.com about height and how, for the most part, it is genetic. there are always variations, even within one's family, but generally speaking, on average, croatians will be taller than pilipinos.

so how did this happen? apparently, population density plays a key role. the more people there are within a certain area (like an island), the shorter people tend to be.

i was glad to see that on the list they had, the philippines wasn't last (meaning shortest)! indonesia was at #36 (pi was 34 - in your face, vietnam (#35)!)

and speaking of ancestors, they discovered the fossilized remains of a giant "devil" frog in madagascar that ate baby dinosaurs. he probably was 16 inches wide and weighed like ten pounds. the best part, however, is it's name - beelzebufo! it's too good.

i just want to resurrect one and tote him around in a red wagon, creeping people out.
