interesante.

i went to the griffith observatory on sunday.

twas gooood. except i didn't get to go to the planetarium.

i did get to look through the telescope on the roof at the moon - now that was something. i went blind in my left eye afer about thirty seconds of the intensely crisp and achingly bright surface of the moon.

i also picked up a few factoids:
- a spacesuit costs $10m dollars because it has to be able to withstand extreme heat in the front (when they're facing the sun) and extreme cold (when they're not).
- the chinese have a "sneaky" satellite project going up soon (i swear that's how the guide framed it!)
- water is fricking expensive to bring up there. i think it was like $7K per gallon.
- nasa will soon go up there and deliberately crash something on one of the polar ice caps of the moon. this will save them a few thousand on water if they're actually able to find water because they won't have to carry it up anymore!

fascinating. hahah.

/edit - photos from the observatory!
